From a neurobiological point of view, three aspects have to be considered when elaborating a therapeutic strategy to improve functional recovery after an acute lesion of the central nervous system: prevention of secondary neuronal death and axonal lesions, stimulation of nerve cells regeneration and neuronal replacement by grafting.
