Adult specimens of Triatoma vitticeps are frequently captured by residents in rural areas of the State of Espírito Santo, Brazil. With aim of determining the natural infection rate of this species, we examined the excrement of 116 wild specimens, captured in 27 municipal districts of the state, after blood meal in chicken and spontaneous excretion.
