The most of the studied species have extended life span of females compared to males. This is due to increased extrinsic (behavioral-independent) and intrinsic (age-related) mortality ratio of males. Evolutionary theory predicts that high rate of extrinsic mortality should increase the rate of aging. We suggest testing the evolutionary theory by estimation of male life span in Drosophila sex behavioral mutants.
