Glimepiride is the oral antidiabetic, second-generation sulfonylurea. It is structurally similar to glyburide. Glimepiride exhibited more potent glucose-lowering effects than glyburide and longer duration of hypoglycemic effect. Glimepiride is useful in the treatment of non-insulin-dependent (type II) diabetes mellitus. Glimepiride is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise for non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus. Glimepiride reduces glucose levels blood by stimulating insulin release… Expand
Fixed-dose combination rosiglitazone/glimepiride in the treatment of Type 2 diabetes mellitus
The aim of this review is to present this new fixed-dose combination of rosiglitazone plus glimepiride, which represents a promising new strategy to obtain recommended glycemic control. Expand
Glimepiride-pioglitazone Hydrochloride in the Treatment of Type 2 Diabetes
The current evidence shows that pioglitazone in association with glimepiride is an effective option in the treatment of type 2 diabetes, particularly in the context of metabolic control and cardiovascular prevention. Expand
Influence of ayurvedic antidiabetic agent on the pharmacodynamics of glimepiride
There is additive type of Pharmacodynamic interaction is possible between glimepiride and madhumehari and the fall in serum glucose level was found to be more significant when compared with the per se treatment of glimePiride, madh Humehari 100 & 200mg in both acute and chronic studies. Expand
Food-drug interaction and pharmacokinetic study between fruit extract of Capsicum frutescens L. and glimepiride in diabetic rats
It has been concluded that no significant food drug interaction occurred between AQEFCF of C.frutescens and glimepiride and when administered as single doses produced a dose dependent antidiabetic activity in diabetic rats. Expand
The importance of synthetic drugs for type 2 diabetes drug discovery
The authors specifically evaluate two newer classes of anti-diabetic agents: dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPP-4) and sodium-glucose transporter-2 (SGLT2) and present information on newer synthetic compounds. Expand
A Comparative Investigation of the Effects of the Cynara scolymus L. and Glibenclamide on Biochemical Parameters in Diabetic Rats
The results indicated that artichoke alcoholic extract could improve hyperglycemia, hyperlipidemia and FBG in diabetic rats, and can be considered as an alternative remedy to control diabetes. Expand
Electrochemical Behavior of Valsartan, Glimepiride and Their Interaction with Each Other Using Square Wave Voltammetry
In this work an electrochemical quantification and interaction of valsartan and glimepiride were studied on hanging mercury drop electrode (HMDE) using square wave voltammetric (SWV) technique. TheExpand
