PANDAS (Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Streptococcal infections) syndrome is a disorder seen before adolescence that possesses an abrupt onset of obsessive-compulsive disorder symptoms and/or tics. Swedo and colleagues defined this disorder in 1998 as a syndrome related to Group A streptoccoccus (GAS) infection with neurological issues, such as motor hyperactivation and choreiform movements. The progress of the disorder may be described as wax-and-waning, apart…

Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorder Associated with Streptococcal Infection (PANDAS): Clinical Manifestations, IVIG Treatment Outcomes, Results from a Cohort of Italian Patients

In this study, IVIG has been shown to be effective in most of the cases and no complications have been reported during the treatment.

Diagnosis in PANDAS: An Update

This review offers a compilation of the most important studies performed to date regarding the clinical presentation and potential biological markers of PANDAS, and suggests the refinement of some aspects in the current diagnosis criteria.

Mood Disturbance in ADHD Due to a General Medical Condition

The mnemonic MEND A MIND is explicate as a useful tool for aiding the clinician at the point of care in formulating a broad differential for organic causes of mood disturbance in patients with ADHD.

Perioperative complications of pediatric otorhinolaryngological operations

The obtained results indicate that the presence of risk factors for perioperative complications during operations on ENT organs in children are associated with the initial autonomic status and the predominance of the parasympathetic nervous system as well as with clinical markers.

It was found out that chronic inflammatory ENT diseases altered the vegetative pattern depending on the localization of the pathology: in case of adenoid vegetations there was a parasympathetic vegetative dysfunction, and in cases of hyperplasia of the tonsils, it was of the sympathetic type.

SPECIFIC FEATURES OF HEART RATE VARIABILITY IN CHILDREN WITH ENT PATHOLOGY IN NEED OF SURGICAL TREATMENT

It is suggested that the target audience for the show should be teenagers between the ages of 18 and 29, with an inclination towards the older crowd.

From Research Subgroup to Clinical Syndrome: Modifying the PANDAS Criteria to Describe PANS (Pediatric Acute-onset Neuropsychiatric

Modifying the PANDAS criteria to eliminate etiologic factors and to clarify the initial clinical presentation produced three potential diagnostic criteria for PANS, which are discussed in detail.

Moving from PANDAS to CANS.

Pediatric autoimmune neuropsychiatric disorders associated with streptococcal infections.

Evidence does not support a recommendation for long-term antibiotic prophylaxis or immunomodulatory therapy in children with PANDAS, and based on only a few studies, positive results have been found using antibiotic proPHylaxis and immunomODulatory therapy.

Characterization of the pediatric acute-onset neuropsychiatric syndrome phenotype.

The sudden, acute onset of neuropsychiatric symptoms, high frequency of comorbidities, and poor quality of life capture the PANS subgroup as suddenly and severely impaired youth.

Clinical evaluation of youth with pediatric acute-onset neuropsychiatric syndrome (PANS): recommendations from the 2013 PANS Consensus Conference.

A consensus statement is presented proposing recommendations for the diagnostic evaluation of youth presenting with PANS and the most urgently needed studies in this field are set forth.

Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated With Streptococcus: Comparison of Diagnosis and Treatment in the Community and at a Specialty Clinic

The hypothesis that pediatric autoimmune neuropsychiatric disorders associated with streptococcus are frequently diagnosed in the community without the application of all working diagnostic criteria is supported.

Practice Parameter for the Assessment and Treatment of Children and Adolescents With Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder

Evidence base for treatment for obsessive-compulsive disorder is summarized and specific recommendations are provided for assessment, cognitive behavioral therapy, pharmacotherapy, combined treatment, and other interventions.

The Yale-Brown Obsessive Compulsive Scale. I. Development, use, and reliability.

In a study involving four raters and 40 patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder at various stages of treatment, interrater reliability for the total Yale-Brown Scale score and each of the 10 individual items was excellent, with high degree of internal consistency among all item scores demonstrated with Cronbach's alpha coefficient.
