  • Acute infections of the digestive tract, clinically presenting as acute gastroenteritis, may have different ethiologic basis. Both bacteria (Escherichia coli, Enterobacter spp., Salmonella spp.) and viruses (Rotaviruses, Adenoviruses) are frequently isolated ethiologic factors. In some cases the ethiologic factor cannot be detected.
