Our prospective study covered 1093 patients with epidemiological features and demonstrable clinical manifestations of Lyme borreliosis from 1987 to 1992. Basic criteria for the inclusion of our patients in the study were: tick bite, erythema migrans and antibodies to B. burgdorferi in each patient's serum.
