Tropical City Milieux and Disease Infection: The Case of Douala, Cameroon

A high infection prevalence for patients of the city centre is revealed, tending to reduce towards the middle belt but being abnormally high at the city periphery, which is a situation identified to be typical of humid tropical cities.

Hookworm prevalence was measured in Cameroon during a national survey carried out for a schistosomiasis research project and regions with tropical Cameroonian climate, which receive very heavy rainfall, showed the highest prevalences.
