The activity of Na+/K(+)-ATPase and hemoglobin binding in membranes of rat erythrocytes during hypothermia (20 degrees C) was studied. Hypothermia causes an increase in hemoglobin binding and a decrease in Na+/K(+)-ATPase activity.
