An HPLC method for simultaneous determination of chlorogenic acid and mangiferin in original medicinal materials and decoction pieces of Pyrrosiae Folium was developed. The assay was performed on a Diamonsil C18 (4.6 mm x 250 mm, 5 microm) column eluted with a mobile phase consisted of acetonitrile and 0.5% phosphoric acid solution in gradient elution at a flow rate of 1.0 mL x min(-1). A novel flavanone glycoside and compounds 2, 3, 4, 10, 11, 13 and 14 were isolated from the family Polypodiaceae for the first time, and compound 5 has not been recorded previously from the genus Pyrrosia.
