A comparison was made of the clinical effectiveness of azithromycin (once daily for three days at a dose of 10 mg/kg in children or 500 mg/day in adults) and amoxicillin/clavulanic acid and cefaclor (standard doses for 7 to 14 days) in acute ear, nose and throat infections in an open randomized study. The group with azithromycin included 37 otitis media, 24 pharyngotonsillitis and 6 maxillary sinusitis (n = 67).
