A comparative study was carried out of the spectral-prosodic characteristics of phoneme "a" (vowel "ya" from Russian word "Byaka") pronounced by the common maynah and humans (a total of about 50 signals). A phenomenon of mutual express-imitation has been established in the course of dialogue contact between the maynah and female speaker.
