OBJECTIVE To study the role of interleukin-1beta (IL-1beta) in the pathogenesis of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). METHODS The bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) and serum in 13 patients with ARDS and 9 healthy controls were collected. The contents of IL-1beta were measured by enzyme-linked immunoadsorbent assay(ELISA).
