BACKGROUND Pleomorphic adenoma (PA) is the most common neoplasm of the major salivary glands. There are three subtypes of malignant PA: carcinoma ex pleomorphic adenoma (CXPA); carcinosarcoma (true malignant mixed tumor) and metastasizing pleomorphic adenoma.
