Abnormal levels some of serum soluble adhesion molecules (ICAM-1, VICAM-1, E-selectin, P-selectin, L-selectin) have been detected in type 2 diabetic patients. There is some evidence that levels of soluble adhesion molecules depend on glycemic control, disturbances of lipid metabolism, obesity and insulin resistance.
