Among 126 cases of chronic subdural hematoma, 6 cases (4.8%) were diagnosed as acute subdural hematoma in chronic stage. They were 3 males and 3 femals whose age ranged from 46 to 79 years (average 62.8 years). All of them received major trauma to the head, but surgical treatment was not necessary until a mean period of 22.7 days, ranging from 17 to 30 days.
