[Acute renal failure after extracorporeal circulation with aortic counterpulsation in surgically treated patients].

In a series of 604 adults operated on for cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB), 21 (3.5%) underwent circulatory assistance by intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP); in 5 of them (24%), acute renal failure (ARF) was observed.
