Spontaneous CPT breaking arising in string theory has been suggested as a possible observable experimental signature in neutral-meson systems. We provide a theoretical framework for the treatment of low-energy effects of spontaneous CPT violation and the attendant partial Lorentz breaking. The analysis is within the context of conventional relativistic quantum mechanics and quantum field theory in four dimensions. We use the framework to develop a CPT-violating extension to the minimal standard…
CPT and Lorentz violation as signatures for Planck-scale physics
In recent years, the breakdown of spacetime symmetries has been identified as a promising research field in the context of Planck-scale phenomenology. For example, various theoretical approaches to
CPT and Lorentz-invariance violation
The largest gap in our understanding of nature at the fundamental level is perhaps a unified description of gravity and quantum theory. Although there are currently a variety of theoretical
Bounds on vacuum-orthogonal Lorentz and CPT violation from radiative corrections
Certain forms of Lorentz violation in the photon sector are difficult to bound directly, since they are "vacuum orthogonal," meaning they do not change the solutions of the equations of motion in
Possible spontaneous breaking of lorentz and CPT symmetry
One possible ramification of unified theories of nature such as string theory that may underlie the conventional standard model is the possible spontaneous breakdown of Lorentz and CPT symmetry. In
- and B-Violation the p -bar p Sector
The CPT symmetry of relativistic quantum field theory requires the total lifetimes of particles and antiparticles to be equal. Detection of lifetime shorter than yr would signal the breakdown of CPT
The Lorentz-Violating Extension of the Standard Model
Quantum-gravity effects are expected to be suppressed by the Planck mass. For experimental progress it is therefore important to identify potential signatures from Planck-scale physics that are

A filler for a continuous cigarette filter rod is formed by feeding a wide band of filaments of filter material on to a slower moving surface, to which suction is applied so that the band is axially
