New particles φ in the MeV-GeV range produced at colliders and escaping detection can be searched for at operating b− and τ−factories such as Belle II. A typical search topology involves pair-produced τs (or mesons), one of which decaying to visibles plus the φ, and the other providing a tag. One crucial impediment of these searches is the limited ability to reconstruct the parents’ separate boosts. This is the case in the ‘typical’ topology where both decay branches include escaping particles… Expand

Testing invisible momentum ansatze in missing energy events at the LHC
• Physics

A bstractWe consider SUSY-like events with two decay chains, each terminating in an invisible particle, whose true energy and momentum are not measured in the detector. Nevertheless, a usefulExpand
Mass reconstruction with M 2 under constraint in semi-invisible production at a hadron collider
• Physics

The mass-constraining variable ${M}_{2}$, a ($1+3$)-dimensional natural successor of extremely popular ${M}_{T2}$, possesses an array of rich features having the ability to use on-shell massExpand
Reconstructing semi-invisible events in resonant tau pair production from Higgs
• Physics

Abstract We study the possibility of utilizing the constrained mass variable, M 2 Cons , in reconstructing the semi-invisible events originated from a resonant production at the LHC. While thisExpand
Mass determination of new states at hadron colliders
• Physics
• 2008
Abstract We propose an improved method for hadron-collider mass determination of new states that decay to a massive, long-lived state like the LSP in the MSSM. We focus on pair-produced new statesExpand
Reconstructing the heavy resonance at hadron colliders
We investigate the method for constructing the invariant mass using the M{sub T2}-assisted on-shell (MAOS) approximation to the invisible particle momenta in the cascade decays of a new particleExpand

We propose a scheme to assign a 4-momentum to each WIMP in new physics event producing a pair of mother particles each of which decays to an invisible weakly interacting massive particle (WIMP) plusExpand
On-shell constrained M2 variables with applications to mass measurements and topology disambiguation
A bstractWe consider a class of on-shell constrained mass variables that are 3+1 dimensional generalizations of the Cambridge MT2 variable and that automatically incorporate various assumptions aboutExpand
Using M T 2 to distinguish dark matter stabilization symmetries
• Physics

We examine the potential of using colliders to distinguish models with parity (${Z}_{2}$) stabilized dark matter (DM) from models in which the DM is stabilized by other symmetries, taking the latterExpand
Measuring masses of semi-invisibly decaying particles pair produced at hadron colliders

We introduce a variable useful for measuring masses of particles pair produced at hadron colliders, where each particle decays to one particle that is directly observable and another particle whoseExpand
Guide to transverse projections and mass-constraining variables
This paper seeks to demonstrate that many of the existing mass-measurement variables proposed for hadron colliders (m{sub T}, m{sub eff}, m{sub T2}, missing p-vector{sub T}, h{sub T},Expand
