We consider the problem of determining the spectrum of an electronic spin via polarization transfer to coupled nuclear spins and their subsequent readout. This suggests applications for employing dynamic nuclear polarization (DNP) for “ESR-via-NMR”. In this paper, we describe the theoretical basis for this process by developing a model for the evolution dynamics of the coupled electron-nuclear system through a cascade of Landau-Zener anti-crossings (LZ-LACs). We develop a method to map these…
Electron-to-nuclear spectral mapping via"Galton board"dynamic nuclear polarization
We report on a strategy to indirectly readout the spectrum of an electronic spin via polarization transfer to nuclear spins in its local environment. The nuclear spins are far more abundant and have
Rapidly enhanced spin polarization injection in an optically pumped spin ratchet
Rapid injection of spin polarization into an ensemble of nuclear spins is a problem of broad interest, spanning dynamic nuclear polarization (DNP) to quantum information science. We report on a

Fast and accurate MAS-DNP simulations of large spin ensembles.
TLDR
This work describes the model, the associated Liouville-based formalism (Bloch-type derivation and/or Landau-Zener approximations) and the linear time algorithm that allows computing MAS-DNP mechanisms with unprecedented time savings and is able to handle multiple electrons and protons.
Dynamic nuclear polarization at high magnetic fields.
TLDR
This review focuses on recent developments in the field of DNP with a special emphasis on work done at high magnetic fields (> or =5 T), the regime where contemporary NMR experiments are performed.
Carbon-13 dynamic nuclear polarization in diamond via a microwave-free integrated cross effect
TLDR
An alternate route to color-center–assisted DNP using nitrogen-vacancy centers in diamond coupled to substitutional nitrogen impurities, the so-called P1 centers is explored, and it is shown that the process is robust to magnetic field/NV misalignment, a feature that makes the present technique suitable to diamond powders and settings where the field is heterogeneous.
Theoretical aspects of Dynamic Nuclear Polarization in the solid state - the cross effect.
TLDR
This publication considers the hyper-polarization of nuclei in systems containing two interacting electrons, and indicates the advantages of the CE- over the SE-DNP processes, both driving the polarization of the bulk nuclei, via the nuclear dipole-dipole interactions.

TLDR
The description of thermal mixing beyond the high temperature approximation is extended for DNP in samples doped with paramagnetic centres, for which the electron spin resonance spectrum is mainly inhomogeneously broadened by g-value anisotropy.
Theoretical aspects of dynamic nuclear polarization in the solid state--spin temperature and thermal mixing.
TLDR
A spin model is used, which is based on the density matrix formalism and includes relaxation, and applied to study the solid effect and cross effect mechanisms on small spin systems to describe the thermal mixing mechanism, and the creation of spin temperature.
Theoretical aspects of dynamic nuclear polarization in the solid state - the solid effect.
TLDR
This publication presents nuclear polarization enhancements of model systems in the solid state at high magnetic fields and discusses the influence of the nuclear concentration and relaxation on the polarization of the core nuclei, which are coupled to an electron and are responsible for the transfer of polarization to the bulk nuclei in the sample via spin diffusion.
RF-SABRE: A Way to Continuous Spin Hyperpolarization at High Magnetic Fields.
TLDR
It is demonstrated that LAC conditions can also be fulfilled at high fields under the action of a RF field and can serve as a new sensitive tool for probing transient complexes.
