A non-uniform 3-point ternary interpolatory subdivision scheme with variable subdivision weights is introduced. Its support is computed. The C and C convergence analysis are presented. To elevate its controllability, a modified edition is proposed. For every initial control point on the initial control polygon a shape weight is introduced. These weights can… (More)
Hassan et al. proposed a 4-point ternary interpolatory scheme with smaller sizes of the templates for the local averaging rules and with higher order smoothness property compared to most of the existing binary ones. It can be C-continuous when the subdivision parameter is chosen in a certain range. In this paper, we further investigate its differentiable… (More)
A recognition algorithm for a type of coded target widely used in photogrammetry is presented in this paper. An efficient feature vector is first proposed to describe the targets, then mathematical morphological operations are used for clustering to location the the targets in the image. Finally, by ellipse fitting, each coded target in the image is… (More)
This paper gives an analysis of the matching process in patch-based sampling texture synthesis algorithm, and finds that the matching process takes up most of the time when synthesizing textures. But for a certain type of textures, with their texture features distributed uniformly, we can omit the matching process when they are synthesized, or make the… (More)
Using vectors between control points (ai=Pi+1-Pi), parameters λ and μ (such that $$a_i + 1 = \lambda a_i + \mu a_i + 2$$ ) are used to study the shape classification of planar parametric cubicB-spline curves. The regiosn of λμ space corresponding to different geometric features on the curves are investigated. These results are useful for curve design.
We design a type of surface icons to visualize 3-D second-order symmetric tensor fields which are tangent to two of the three orthogonal eigenvector fields and orthogonal to the third one. We use the conception of discrete normal vectors and construct a space triangular mesh to approximate the desired surface icon with the discrete normal vector parallel to… (More)
Subdivision scheme is a discrete modeling method that breaches old model of surface modeling, namely, from discrete data to continuous data and last to discrete data. The method is simple, small computing and fast in modeling. This paper presents a classification standard of subdivision scheme, discusses and compares several subdivision schemes in brief.
