Using a Bayesian relaxed clock calibrated with fossil data, it is estimated that Tachinidae originated in the middle Eocene and maximum-likelihood and Bayesian methods supported the monophyly of both Tach inidae and superfamily Oestroidea.

These discoveries may be the first empirical evidence that links the evolution of organisms to the Eocene‐Oligocene uplifting of the Tibetan Plateau, and suggest an Eocene South China origin for coelotine species from throughout the region.
