As a da i l y user of APL~ 1 have accumulated several years of experience wi th a wide spectrum of appl icat ions. There is one class of problems, however~ that I have found qui te inconvenient to solve, pa r t i cu l a r l y in appl icat ions where the operation has to be done f requent ly . The problem is the operation in which the elements of a vector V… (More)
As described before, the system is now complete and performs logic inferences according to expectations. The syntax is more compact than PROLOG's, and the number of rules and axioms for a given system is somewhat smaller. In the case of our example, a total of 24 rules and 174 axioms contain all the information. Quite complicated questions on genealogy and… (More)
True - false logic can be expanded to include a neutral "do not know" option. New primitive functions replace AND, OR and NOT in such a way as to generalize the rules of logic. Primitive functions in APL support this extension with ease. Further generalizations to multilevel logic are also possible.
A dyadic execute primitive will greatly simplify the building of Artificial Intelligence applications using APL. This function can also be used to remove much of the need for labels within defined functions. A suggested name for this new APL primitive is "rule".
