OBJECTIVE To provide the molecular data for the right application of the Chinese medicine "Beimu". METHOD Using the technology of RAPD, we studied the relationship among 12 samples of Beimu. RESULT The total genomic DNA of all the samples are about 21 Kb in size. Among 20 primers used, the five primers can reatedly generate a certain specified amplified(More)

Intermedin (IMD) plays an important regulatory role in cardiovascular function. We aimed to explore the protein expression of IMD and its receptors, calcitonin receptor-like receptor (CRLR) and receptor activity-modifying proteins (RAMPs), and the role of endogenous IMD in myocardial ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury in rats. The rat model of I/R was(More)
OBJECTIVE To study the antioxidant activities of different extracts from Astragalus mongholicus. METHOD The antioxidant activities of the total flavanoids (TFA), the total saponins (TSA) and the total polysaccharides (TPA) from A. mongholicus were measured by means of biochemiluminescence. The concentrations of these samples varied from 1.25 x 10(-3) g x(More)
The palladium-catalyzed intramolecular acylation of alkenyl bromides and aldehydes was developed for an efficient synthesis of 4H-chromen-4-ones. With Pd(PPh3)4/Xphos as the catalyst and K2CO3 as the base, this protocol was applied to synthesize a small library of diversely functionalized flavonoids in moderate to good yields in 1,4-dioxane.
1. Endothelin receptor B subtype 2 (EDNRB2) is a paralog of EDNRB, which encodes a 7-transmembrane G-protein coupled receptor. Previous studies reported that EDNRB was essential for melanoblast migration in mammals and ducks. 2. Muscovy ducks have different plumage colour phenotypes. Variations in EDNRB2 coding sequences (CDSs) and mRNA expression levels(More)
OBJECTIVE To find out the seasonal variation of active alkaloids in Zhebeimu(F. thunbergii) collected from Zhejiang Ninbo and Jiangsu Nantong, and confirm the suitable harvesting time for the crude drug. METHOD Determining the alkaloid contents in the samples of Zebeimu collected monthly from the above-said twoplaces by improved colormetric method. (More)
The cDNA sequence of the growth hormone receptor (GHR) from the black Muscovy duck was obtained and compared to the mRNA expression of growth hormone (GH) in the breast and leg muscles during 2-13 weeks of age using quantitative RT-PCR. The cDNA sequence of the Muscovy duck GHR gene is 1903 bp in length, with an 1830 bp coding region that encodes 609 amino(More)
Insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-I) and myostatin (MSTN) are a pair of critical positive and negative growth regulators. The aim of the current study was to examine the age-dependent and muscle-specific expression of IGF-I and MSTN mRNAs in black Muscovy ducks in order to understand their roles in regulating the postnatal muscle growth of domestic ducks.(More)
