A new all-optical header recognition scheme is proposed with multi-stage all-optical switch architecture. As a key technology, Switching of multiple bits was demonstrated at 9.953 Gb/s, NRZ using a SOA-MZI all-optical switch.
Performance of all-optical flip-flop circuits based on a SOA-MZI is reviewed. Set-reset-type operation and T-type operation will be presented with feedback loop configuration for optical gate signal generation, and a counterfaced one for DPSK encoding, respectively.
An all-optical 1times2 switching scheme using asymmetric control light of SOA-MZI for label-payload separation is proposed. Fast four-bit time domain label at 40 Gb/s was separated experimentally. A slow gain recovery effect was found and a simulation revealed the effective way to reduce it.
