we propose a converged fiber-wireless access network based on radio-over-fiber technologies as future mobile backhaul incorporating base station cooperation schemes (CoMP). Both analog and digitized RoF technologies are discussed as possible solutions, in terms of base station configuration, system performance and energy efficiency. The implementation… (More)
In this paper, we proposed multichannel digitized RF-over-fiber (DRoF) transmission scheme and realized frequency conversion using a single analog-to-digital converter (ADC) and a single digital-to-analog converter (DAC). We gave a comprehensively analysis on this scheme, and compared it with analog links in terms of signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), dynamic… (More)
In this paper, we review some work we have carried out in the area of fiber-based small cell backhauling in particular focussing on the energy efficient transport schemes and network planning. Our study shows that for densely packed small cells in an urban scenario, analog transport of the wireless signals over the optical link is most energy efficient.
This paper reviews some of the work we have carried out in the transport of wireless signals in fiber-wireless links.
In this paper, we experimentally demonstrated an optical generation of microwave carrier using optically injection-locked Fabry-Perot laser diodes in tandem through a phase modulator. It is verified that the proposed scheme is able to achieve an optical carrier suppressed (OCS) signal with a good suppression ratio simultaneously through a programmable… (More)
To overcome the impairments associated with signal transport over analog photonic links, we have introduced digitized RF transport scheme for fiber-wireless applications. This transport scheme which is based on bandpass sampling technique ensures that the signal is immune to nonlinear effects arising from the optical link and improves the overall dynamic… (More)
In this paper presents a survey on RoF for Wireless Broadband Access technology like WiMAX (Fixed and Mobile). RoF is considered to achieve an effective delivery of wireless and baseband signal, and it also reduces the power consumption. In the other hand WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) is recent fast growing broadband access… (More)
