A population of chemical-inducible activation-tagged Arabidopsis mutants screened on the basis of the ABA effect on the inhibition of seed germination showed that all the other mutants were not only enhanced in sensitivity to ABA, salt and osmotic stress, but also enhanced the expression of ABA-responsive genes.

Rat neuronal NOS was expressed in Arabidopsis thaliana and it was demonstrated that it is a useful strategy to exploit the roles of plant NO in various processes by the expression of rat nNOS, which may also be useful for genetic engineering of crops with increased environmental adaptations.

Alkaline conditions inhibit primary root elongation of Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana) seedlings by reducing cell division potential in the meristem zones and that ethylene signaling affects this process, and ethylene modulates alkaline stress-mediated inhibition of root growth by increasing auxin accumulation by stimulating the expression of AUX1 and auxin biosynthesis-related genes.

Results demonstrated that the photorespiratory role of CAT2 is determined mainly by the regulation of its promoter activity, and identification of component of heterotetramers catalase isoforms suggested that there is some functional redundancy between CAT2 and CAT1 and CAT3.

Overexpression of atTAF10 under the control of the 35S promoter in Arabidopsis improves seed tolerance to salt stress during germination and the knocked-down mutant is more sensitive to salt Stress, indicating the transcription initiation factor as a physiological target of salt toxicity in plants.
