Tannins and polyphenols are the antibacterial components towards MRSA in B. kockiana, and massive leakage of the cell content observed in treated cells showed that the phytochemicals have changed the properties of thecell membranes.

Assessment of antioxidant potential of three selected Garcinia species commonly used in Malaysia found G. mangostana and G. hombroniana leaves and pericarps exhibited good antioxidant activities, but the antioxidant activities in their fruit pulps were relatively low.
