In vivo reconstitution using strain CH999 revealed that the minimal PKS and OxyD are necessary and sufficient for the biosynthesis of amidated polyketides and WJ35, an isoquinolone compound derived from an amidated decaketide backbone and cyclized with novel regioselectivity.
