It is suggested that PGO rich in c9,t11,c13‐CLN can suppress AOM‐induced colon carcinogenesis, and the inhibition is associated in part with the increased content of CLA in the colon and liver and/or increased expression of PPARγ protein in the Colon mucosa.
Dietary astaxanthin inhibits colitis and colitis-associated colon carcinogenesis in mice via modulation of the inflammatory cytokines.

Zerumbone, a tropical ginger sesquiterpene, inhibits colon and lung carcinogenesis in mice
- Mihye Kim, S. Miyamoto, Y. Yasui, T. Oyama, A. Murakami, Takuji Tanaka
- Biology, MedicineInternational Journal of Cancer
- 15 January 2009
It is suggested that dietary administration of ZER effectively suppresses mouse Colon and lung carcinogenesis through multiple modulatory mechanisms of growth, apoptosis, inflammation and expression of NFκB and HO‐1 that are involved in carcinogenesis in the colon and lung.
Chaperone protein involved in transmembrane transport of iron.
- I. Yanatori, Y. Yasui, M. Tabuchi, F. Kishi
- BiologyBiochemical Journal
- 15 August 2014
It is suggested that PCBP2 can transfer ferrous iron from DMT1 to the appropriate intracellular sites or ferroportin and could function as an iron chaperone.
Heme and non-heme iron transporters in non-polarized and polarized cells

- BiologyBMC Cell Biology

These localization studies support a model in which cytosolic heme can be degraded by HOs, and the resulting iron is exported into tissue fluids via the iron transporter ferroportin 1, which is expressed in the basolateral membrane in enterocytes or in the plasma membrane in macrophages.
Global gene expression analysis of the mouse colonic mucosa treated with azoxymethane and dextran sodium sulfate
- R. Suzuki, S. Miyamoto, Y. Yasui, S. Sugie, Takuji Tanaka
- Medicine, BiologyBMC Cancer
- 17 May 2007
This is the first report describing global gene expression analysis of an AOM/DSS-induced mouse Colon carcinogenesis model, and the findings provide new insights into the mechanisms of inflammation-related colon carcinogenesis and the establishment of novel therapies and preventative strategies against carcinogenesis.
Dietary Tricin Suppresses Inflammation-Related Colon Carcinogenesis in Male Crj: CD-1 Mice
- T. Oyama, Y. Yasui, S. Sugie, M. Koketsu, Kunitomo Watanabe, Takuji Tanaka
- Biology, MedicineCancer Prevention Research
- 24 November 2009
Findings that dietary tricin inhibits inflammation-related mouse colon carcinogenesis by suppressing the expression of TNF-α in the nonlesional cyrpts and the proliferation of adenocarcinomas suggest a potential use of tric in for clinical trials of colorectal cancer chemoprevention.

The BGO diets had significantly reduced free cholesterol levels with a trend toward an increase in HDL cholesterol, but there was no significant change in the total cholesterol.
