Agroactive compounds of microbial origin.
This review attempts to identify newer agroactive microbial metabolites with feasible activity or interesting action sites from those reported in recent years and discusses the possibility of future discovery of excellent microbial agrochemicals and the importance of efforts to promote positive public perception and public acceptance of pesticide chemicals.

- Y. Tanaka, U. Gräfe, K. Yazawa, Y. Mikami, M. Ritzau
- Biology, ChemistryJournal of antibiotics (Tokyo. )
- 25 October 1997
Nocardicyclins A (1) and B (2), new anthracycline antibiotics have been isolated from the mycelial cake of Nocardia pseudobrasiliensis IFM 0624 (JCM 9894) and are active against Gram-positive bacteria including Mycobacterium spp.
Effect of ammonium ion, inorganic phosphate and amino acids on the biosynthesis of protylonolide, a precursor of tylosin aglycone.
- S. Ōmura, Y. Tanaka, H. Mamada, R. Masuma
- Chemistry, BiologyJournal of antibiotics (Tokyo. )
- 1 May 1984
The regulation of tylosin biosynthesis in S. fradiae by ammonium ion is discussed in relation to amino acid metabolism and 13C NMR spectroscopic analysis revealed that iso-butyrate was incorporated into protylonolide at the carbons known to originate from propionate and n- butyrate.
Brasilicardin A, a new terpenoid antibiotic from pathogenic Nocardia brasiliensis: fermentation, isolation and biological activity.
A novel tricyclic diterpenoid antibiotic was isolated from the culture broth of Nocardia brasiliensis IFM 0406 and the results of in vitro toxicity testing of brasilicardin A against various human cell lines were compared with those of CyA.
Stimulation of leucomycin production by magnesium phosphate and its relevance to nitrogen catabolite regulation
- S. Ōmura, Y. Tanaka, C. Kitao, H. Tanaka, Y. Iwai
- Biology, ChemistryAntimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy
- 1 November 1980
Addition of magnesium phosphate [Mg3(PO4)2 x 8H2O] to a complex medium or to an ammonium ion-containing, chemically defined medium stimulated leucomycin production by Streptomyces kitasatoensis.…
Brasilinolide A, a new macrolide antibiotic produced by Nocardia brasiliensis: producing strain, isolation and biological activity.
- Y. Tanaka, H. Komaki, J. Kobayashi
- BiologyJournal of antibiotics (Tokyo. )
- 25 December 1997
A new 32-membered macrolide antibiotic, brasilinolide A was isolated from the fermentation broth of Nocardia sp. IFM 0406. The producer was identified as Nocardia brasiliensis. The antibiotic was…
Valine as a precursor of n-butyrate unit in the biosynthesis of macrolide aglycone.
- S. Ōmura, K. Tsuzuki, Y. Tanaka, H. Sakakibara, M. Aizawa, G. Lukács
- Chemistry, BiologyJournal of antibiotics (Tokyo. )
- 1 May 1983
It is described that valine catabolism plays an important role in supplying both n-butyrate and propionate units for the biosynthesis of aglycones of the 16-membered macrolide antibiotics, leucomycin and tylosin.
Antimalarial activity of radicicol, heptelidic acid and other fungal metabolites.
Seven fungal metabolites such as radicicol and heptelidic acid were identified as active compounds and exhibited antimalarial activity in vitro against the human malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum to the extent of approximately 1/10 as potent as artemisinin.
