Immunohistochemical studies on the intestinal nerve of Remak in the male chicken.
The distribution of neuropeptide and catecholamine synthesizing enzyme immunoreactive (IR) ganglion cells and nerve fibres in the intestinal nerve of Remak (INR) of male chickens was investigated and compared to find TH-immunonegative cells were characterized by the distribution of mENK- and neuropePTide Y-IR nerve fibre which were very few in number. Immunohistochemical localization of serotonin, galanin, cholecystokinin, and methionine-enkephalin in adrenal medullary cells of the chicken.
It is suggested that serotonin, galanin, cholecystokinin, and methionine-enkephalin may be co-released with A and/or NA from adrenal medullary cells of the chicken. Expand
Immunohistochemical studies of neural elements in pancreatic islets of the cat.
In pancreatic islets, many VIP-IR nerve terminals were located predominantly around insulin (Ins)-IR cell masses and many tyrosine hydroxylase-IR nerves terminals were demonstrated in the core of Ins- IR cell masses as well as around them. Expand

In the chicken, serotonin and galanin are contained in both adrenaline- and noradrenaline-cells of the adrenal gland, and Serotonin and these neuropeptides may be selectively coreleased with adrenaline and/or norADrenaline from adrenal medullary cells of the chicken. Expand
Localization of the Motoneurons Innervating the Forlimb Muscles in the Spinal Cord of the Domestic Fowl
The origins of the motor nerve fibers supplying the individual forelimb muscles were elucidated in the fowl by the retrograde degeneration method. Chromatolytic cells were seen in the ipsilateralExpand
Anatomical localization of sympathetic postganglionic and sensory neurons innervating the pancreas of the cat.
These neurons probably control the secretion of the endocrine and exocrine pancreas, but the differences in the localization of the labeled neurons between the two portions may be related to the different intraabdominal positions of the twoParts of the Pancreas. Expand
Immunohistochemical morphometry of pancreatic islets in the cat.
All islets are similar in the Ins-IR cell population, but different in the complementary arrangement of Glu- and PP-IR cells, and 2 types of islets can be classified. Expand
Afferent and Efferent Connections of the Nucleus Geniculatus Lateralis Ventralis Demonstrated by WGA‐HRP in the Chick
Fibre connections of the chick nucleus geniculatus lateralis ventralis (GLv) were investigated using the axonal tracing method with wheat germ agglutinin conjugated to horseradish peroxidase (WGA‐HRP) and labelled axon terminals spread widely in the ipsilateral area pretectalis without any clear topographical arrangement. Distribution patterns of immunocompetent cells in the pregnant mouse uteri carrying allogeneic mouse and xenogeneic vole embryos
The results suggest: (1) the response of macrophages to dead embryos is completely inhibited, (2) uNK cells and mast cells increase near dead and aborted embryos, and (3) the increment in u NK cells responding to xenogeneic embryos is suppressed in scid mice, and the suppression may contribute partly to survival of the embryos. Spinal Nerve Innervation to the Sonic Muscle and Sonic Motor Nucleus in Red Piranha, Pygocentrus nattereri (Characiformes, Ostariophysi)
The detailed innervation pattern of the sonic muscle of the red Piranha was investigated and it was concluded that the sonic muscles of the piranha are innervated by approximately 300 sonic motor neurons located only in the spinal cord. Expand
