Transcriptional Blood Signatures Distinguish Pulmonary Tuberculosis, Pulmonary Sarcoidosis, Pneumonias and Lung Cancers
Tuberculosis and sarcoidosis revealed similar blood transcriptional profiles, dominated by interferon-inducible transcripts, while pneumonia and lung cancer showed distinct signatures,dominated by inflammatory genes.

It is suggested that reduced iNKT‐cell numbers in sarcoidosis may lead to impaired monocytic IL‐10 production and unchecked T‐cell expansion in sarCOidosis, and interaction between i NKT cells and monocytes could be restored following their coculture with iN KT cells, in a CD1d‐ and cell contact‐dependent process.
