A simple and sensitive gas‐chromatographic method for the determination of N‐acetyl‐l‐aspartic acid (NA‐Asp), N‐ acetyl‐α‐ aspartylglutamic acid ( NA‐AsP‐Glu) and β‐citryl‐ l‐glutamate (β‐CG) was developed and showed a reciprocal relationship in their regional distribution in mature brains.

NA‐Asp‐Glu showed a different developmental profile, depending on region of the brain, in the two species of rat and guinea pig, and remained constantly low during brain maturation in the rostral regions.

An improved method was devised in order to obtain a better chromatogram of the amines and several compounds having similar RF values interfered with the identification of 3,4-dimethoxyphenylethylamine.

A new polymorphic 40-nucleotide repeat in the human dopamine transporter gene is described. It may underlie individual differences in susceptibility to several neuropsychiatric diseases.
OCCURRENCE AND FORMATION OF γ‐GLUTAMYLPUTRESCINE IN MAMMALIAN BRAIN
- T. Nakajima, Y. Kakimoto, M. Tsuji, H. Konishi
- Biology, Chemistry
- 1 January 1976
This compound was purified from bovine brain and identified as γ‐glutamylputrescine by comparison of its behaviour with that of the synthesized glutamylamides, and seemed to be metabolized as rapidly as putrescines in rat brain.
