A retrospective study of 46 patients who received bupivacaine local injections after hemorrhoidectomy were compared to a matching group of 46 patients of similar age and sex distribution who underwent the same operation. In decerebrate-decerebellate cats, clicks and tones evoked negative and positive potentials on the surface of the cuneate nucleus and modulated the activity of cuneate neurons. These effects appear to be mediated through direct projections from the cochlear to the dorsal column nuclei.
