An efficient Agrobacterium-mediated durum wheat transformation system has been developed for the production of 121 independent transgenic lines. This improved system used Agrobacterium strain AGL1 containing the superbinary pGreen/pSoup vector system and durum wheat cv Stewart as the recipient plant. Acetosyringone at 400 microM was added to both the… (More)
Since the 1960s and the therapeutic use of hematopoietic stem cells of bone marrow origin, there has been an increasing interest in the study of undifferentiated progenitors that have the ability to proliferate and differentiate into various tissues. Stem cells (SC) with different potency can be isolated and characterised. Despite the promise of embryonic… (More)
The physiological response of two soybean varieties to salt stress was examined. The results showed that salt stress induced a significantly (p<0.01) lower decrease of the net photosynthetic rate (P N) in salt-tolerant S111-9 than in salt-sensitive Glycine max. P N decrease was positively related to the decrease of stomatal conductance (g s) and… (More)
In this paper, we consider the classical two uniform machine scheduling problem. We present a compound algorithm which consists of three Greedy-like subprocedures running independently. We prove that the algorithm has a worst-case bound of 7/6 and runs in linear time.
Microneme protein 8 (MIC8) is considered a new essential invasion factor in Toxoplasma gondii. In the present study, a deoxyribonucleic acid vaccine expressing MIC8 of T. gondii was constructed and the immune response it induced in Kunming mice was evaluated. The gene sequence encoding MIC8 was inserted into the eukaryotic expression vector pVAX I, and the… (More)
In this paper, we consider the problem of on-line uniform machine scheduling with rejection. For the two machine case and a special three machine case, we present the best possible on-line algorithms for certain values of speed ratio s.
In order to understand the anomalous interface adhesion properties between graphene membranes and their substrates, we have developed a theoretical method to calibrate the interface adhesion energy of monolayer and multilayer graphene on substrates based on the bond relaxation consideration. Four kinds of interfaces, including graphene/SiO2, graphene/Cu,… (More)
In this note, we derive the tight worst case bound √6/2+(1/2) k for scheduling with the MULTIFIT heuristic on two parallel uniform machines withk calls of FFD within MULTIFIT. When MULTIFIT is combined with LPT as an incumbent algorithm the worst case bound decreases to √2+1/2+(1/2) k .
Traditional dietary assessment methods, consisting of written and orally reported methods, are not widely acceptable or feasible for everyday monitoring. The development of builtin cameras for mobile devices provides a new way of collecting dietary information by acquiring images of foods and beverages. The ability of image analysis techniques to… (More)
Enzootic pneumonia caused by Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae is a severe disease of pigs, causing significant economic losses to the pig industry worldwide, including the tropical and subtropical regions. In order to obtain the baseline prevalence of M. hyopneumoniae in pigs from intensive farms in southern China, double-sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay… (More)
