Drosophila clock neurons are self-sustaining cellular oscillators that rely on negative transcriptional feedback to keep circadian time. Proper regulation of organismal rhythms of physiology and behavior requires coordination of the oscillations of individual clock neurons within the circadian control network. Over the last decade, it has become clear that… (More)
In this paper, we introduce a novel deep learning framework, termed Purine. In Purine, a deep network is expressed as a bipartite graph (bi-graph), which is composed of interconnected operators and data tensors. With the bi-graph abstraction, networks are easily solvable with event-driven task dispatcher. We then demonstrate that different parallelism… (More)
Modern GPUs have been widely used to accelerate the graph processing for complicated computational problems regarding graph theory. Many parallel graph algorithms adopt the asynchronous computing model to accelerate the iterative convergence. Unfortunately, the consistent asynchronous computing requires locking or the atomic operations, leading to… (More)
We demonstrate a novel overlay multicasting architecture: IP multicasting over optical networks with dynamic point-to-multipoint configuration. Experimental results show that the proposed architecture exhibits better performance than pure IP multicasting under heavy traffic load.
Software Defined Networks (SDN) such as OpenFlow provides better network management for data center by decoupling control plane from data plane. Current OpenFlow controllers install flow rules with a fixed timeout after which the switch automatically removes the rules from its flow table. However, this fixed timeout has shown many disadvantages. For flows… (More)
The impact of IP over optical two-layer multicasting on the performance of channel zapping is discussed through two simple experiments and evaluated by an large scale concurrent video delivery testing in the 3TNet testbed in Yangtze River Delta, China. The results of 1040 concurrent users testing are reported.
Our previous work demonstrated that huwentoxin-IV was an inhibitor cystine knot peptide from Chinese tarantula Ornithoctonus huwena venom that blocked tetrodotoxin-sensitive voltage-gated sodium channels from mammalian sensory neurons [Peng, K., Shu, Q., Liu, Z., Liang, S., 2002. Function and solution structure of huwentoxin-IV, a potent neuronal… (More)
EGFR-targeted cancer therapy is a breakthrough in non-small cell carcinoma. miRNAs have been proved to play important roles in cancer. Currently, for the role of miRNAs in EGFR-targeted cancer therapy is unclear. In this study, first we found that erlotinib reduced the expression of miR-9. MiR-9 expression was increased in human lung cancer tissues compared… (More)
Microalgae contain a variety of bioactive lipids with potential applications in aquaculture feed, biofuel, food and pharmaceutical industries. While microalgae-derived polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) and their roles in promoting human health have been extensively studied, other lipid types from this resource, such as phytosterols, have been poorly… (More)
