We experimentally demonstrate an 100 Gbit/s hybrid optical fiber-wireless link by employing photonic heterodyning up-conversion of optical 12.5 Gbaud polarization multiplexed 16-QAM baseband signal with two free running lasers. Bit-error-rate performance below the FEC limit is successfully achieved for air transmission distances up to 120 cm. 1. J. Wells, "… (More)
We propose a novel EPON system supporting bandwidth scalable local area network emulation by using orthogonal frequency division multiplexing access technology. Added to the EPON traffic, 250Mbps and 500Mbps OFDM LAN traffics are experimentally emulated.
Photosynthesis is one of the most important biological processes on the earth. So far, though the molecular mechanisms underlying photosynthesis is well understood, however, the regulatory networks of photosynthesis are poorly studied. Given the current interest in improving photosynthetic efficiency for greater crop yield, elucidating the detailed… (More)
We theoretically and experimentally investigate the performance of two self-heterodyne detected radio-over-fiber (RoF) links employing phase modulation (PM) and quadrature biased intensity modulation (IM), in terms of bit-error rate (BER) and optical signal-to-noise ratio (OSNR). In both links, self-heterodyne receivers perform down-conversion of the RF… (More)
THz impulse radio technologies promise a new paradigm of fast wireless access with simplified wireless reception. However, huge loss of propagating broad bandwidth THz impulse radio signals limits THz wireless transmission distance and reduces the achievable link data rates. In this paper, we evaluate the realistic throughput and accessible wireless range… (More)
Wireless communications have entered into a path towards Terabit era, to accommodate the increasing demands on fast wireless access, e.g. huge data file transferring and fast mobile data access. Terahertz (THz) technology is considered feasible to carry ultrafast data signals, as it offers up to a few THz bandwidths. This paper overviews the prospects of… (More)
