Polyamines reduce salt-induced oxidative damage by increasing the activities of antioxidant enzymes and decreasing lipid peroxidation in Virginia pine
It is demonstrated that polyamines reduce salt-induced oxidative damage by increasing the activities of antioxidant enzymes and decreasing lipid peroxidation in Virginia pine.

MoRgs1 and MoRgs4 positively regulate surface hydrophobicity, conidiation, and mating and other RGS and RGS-like proteins are also involved in a complex process governing asexual/sexual development, appressorium formation, and pathogenicity.
Regeneration of transgenic loblolly pine (Pinus taeda L.) from zygotic embryos transformed with Agrobacterium tumefaciens
- Wei Tang, R. Sederoff, R. Whetten
- Biology, MedicinePlanta
- 1 October 2001
The results suggest that an efficient A. tumefaciens-mediated transformation protocol for stable integration of foreign genes into loblolly pine has been developed and that this transformation system could be useful for future studies on transferring economically important genes to lobl Holly pine.
Development of insect-resistant transgenic indica rice with a synthetic cry1C* gene
- Wei Tang, Hao Chen, Cai-guo Xu, Xianghua Li, Yongjun Lin, Qifa Zhang
- BiologyMolecular breeding
- 27 June 2006
T1c-19, a line showing the highest content of Cry1C* protein, and its hybrid were tested in the field for insect resistance and agronomic performance and found to be highly resistant to stemborers and leaffolders throughout the growth period, resulting in a significantly increased grain yield compared with the respective controls.
Overexpression of the Pepper Transcription Factor CaPF1 in Transgenic Virginia Pine (Pinus Virginiana Mill.) Confers Multiple Stress Tolerance and Enhances Organ Growth
- Wei Tang, T. M. Charles, R. Newton
- Biology, Environmental SciencePlant Molecular Biology
- 1 November 2005
It is described that overexpression of an ERF/AP2 pepper transcription factor (CaPF1) in transgenic Virginia pine confers tolerance to heavy metals Cadmium, Copper, and Zinc, to heat, and to pathogens Bacillus thuringiensis and Staphylococcus epidermidis.
Population genomic analysis of the rice blast fungus reveals specific events associated with expansion of three main clades
- Z. Zhong, Meilian Chen, Zonghua Wang
- BiologyThe ISME Journal
- 22 March 2018
Examination of the genomes of 100 isolates of Magnaporthe oryzae identified clade-specific diversification of several genes with orthologs involved in mating behavior in other fungi, consistent with the view that M.oryzae populations in Asia generate diversity through recombination and may have served as the source of the clades 2 and 3 isolates that comprise a large fraction of the global population.
