Exploring the active site of herpes simplex virus type‐1 thymidine kinase by X‐ray crystallography of complexes with aciclovir and other ligands
TLDR
The binary complexes of HSV‐1 thymidine kinase (TK) with the drug molecules aciclovir and penciclovIR, determined by X‐ray crystallography at 2.37 Å resolution, are reported for the first time.

It has been just five years since gray-scale ultrasound (U/S) became clinically available. Yet the day-to-day importance of U/S in general medicine and surgerynot just the traditional areas of ob/gyn
Crystal structures of the thymidine kinase from herpes simplex virus type-I in complex with deoxythymidine and Ganciclovir
TLDR
The crystal structures of thymidine kinase from herpes simplex virus type-1 complexed with its natural substrate deoxythymidine andcomplexed with the guanosine analogue Ganciclovir have been solved and structural similarities provide an insight into the mechanism of nucleoside phosphorylation by thymazine kinase.
Structure of the joint region and the termini of the DNA of herpes simplex virus type 1
TLDR
Comparison of restriction fragments from the joint region with fragment from the termini indicated that in the simplest observed molecules of herpes simplex virus type 1 DNA, only one copy of the inverted terminal redundancy was present at the joint.
The strange history of phage therapy
TLDR
Since the enlightenment, scientists have enjoyed a self-image as rational actors, guided only by reason, evidence and logic, but the Royal Society proclaimed a new era in science based only on observation and direct experience.
The structure of herpes simplex virus type 1 DNA as probed by micrococcal nuclease digestion.
TLDR
HSV-I DNA is found predominantly in structures other than nucleosomes during virus replication, and heterogeneous fragments and nucleosomal fragments comprised major and minor fractions, respectively, of digested progeny DNA.
DNA base sequence homology between coliphages T7 and phiII and between T3 and phiII as determined by heteroduplex mapping in the electron microscope.
Abstract The genetic relatedness of the similar coliphages T7, T3 and oII was investigated by electron microscopic observations of the DNA heteroduplexes formed with one DNA strand from coliphage T7
AGE AND GROWTH OF LOLIGO PEALEI, A POPULATION STUDY OF THE COMMON ATLANTIC COAST SQUID
