Livestock impacts on riparian ecosystems and streamside management implications...a review.
Historically, riparian vegetation has been defined as vegetation rooted at the water’s edge (Campbell and Franklin 1979). Quite often, however, the stream influences vegetation in many ways and well…
Cattle grazing and behavior on a forested range in the southern Blue Mountains of Oregon, vegetation types.
Environmental and topographic parameters on a mountainous forested range were analyzed to establish causes of cattle behavioral responses. Distinct home range groups of cattle were identified through…
Impacts of cattle on streambanks in northeastern Oregon.
The objectives of this study were to compare streambank morphology, erosion, and undercutting between areas of streambanks that were grazed under a late season grazing strategy and areas of streams that were totally excluded from livestock grazing.
Cytotoxicity and antitumor activity of carzelesin, a prodrug cyclopropylpyrroloindole analogue.
The results, collectively, suggest that carzelesin is absorbed and distributed well and that it was therapeutically more efficacious against mouse L1210 leukemia than was U-76074 or adozelesin (U-73975), another cyclopropylpyrroloindole analogue which is currently in phase I clinical trials.
State and transition modeling: An ecological process approach
A conceptual model of state/transition/threshold relationships that are determined by the resilience and resistance of the ecosystems' primary ecological processes is presented, providing a framework for development of process-based state-and-transition models for management and research.
CC-1065 (NSC 298223), a novel antitumor agent that interacts strongly with double-stranded DNA.

Although the drug inhibition of DNA synthesis cannot completely account for its cytotoxic effects on L1210 cells, these results, along with those generated by other investigators, suggest that the inhibition ofDNA synthesis represents a major mode of action of CC-1065.
Competition for Resources Between Understory Vegetation and Overstory Pinus Ponderosa in Northeastern Oregon.

It is demonstrated that belowground resources were the primary controlling factors of understory production in P. ponderosa forests in northeastern Oregon.

Cattle grazing influence on a mountain riparian zone.
A combination of management and physical topographic constraints caused cattle to concentrate on the riparian zone early in the grazing season in 1977 and 1978. A large percentage of cattle days and…
