All six malignant tumors found in 25 patients showed enhancement characterized by a sudden increase in signal intensity on the order of 100% within the first 2 minutes after injection and a much slighter increase thereafter, and 16 benign lesions showed a substantially different pattern of enhancement.

This study shows that the invasive components of small tumours can be treated using cryotherapy, and in tumours larger than 15 mm two or more cryo probes should be used to achieve larger iceballs.
