Application of two nitric oxide donors, sodium nitroprusside (SNP) and S-nitroso-N-acetylpenicillamine (SNAP), dramatically alleviated heat stress induced ion leakage increase, growth suppression and cell viability decrease in both calluses under heat stress and suggested that NO might act as a signal in activating active oxygen scavenging enzymes underHeat stress and thus confer DR callus thermotolerance.
s-Adenosylmethionine Levels Govern Innate Immunity through Distinct Methylation-Dependent Pathways.

The studies provide molecular links between SAM and innate immune functions and suggest that SAM depletion may limit stress-induced gene expression.
Functional characterization of a mycothiol peroxidase in Corynebacterium glutamicum that uses both mycoredoxin and thioredoxin reducing systems in the response to oxidative stress.

The MPx function is investigated by examining its potential peroxidase activity using different proton donors and it is proposed that the C. glutamicum MPx represents a new type of GPx that uses both mycoredoxin and Trx systems for oxidative stress response.
Nitric oxide mediates abscisic acid induced thermotolerance in the calluses from two ecotypes of reed under heat stress
No might act as an intermediate molecular mediating abscisic acid induced thermotolerance under heat stress in plant acclimations to heat stress involved with ABA and NO.
Functional characterization of a vanillin dehydrogenase in Corynebacterium glutamicum
The vdh deletion mutant partially lost its ability to grow on vanillin, indicating the presence of alternative VDH(s) in Corynebacterium glutamicum and contributes to understanding the VDH diversity from bacteria and the aromatic metabolism pathways in C. glutamum.
Genome Reduction and Microbe-Host Interactions Drive Adaptation of a Sulfur-Oxidizing Bacterium Associated with a Cold Seep Sponge
The results demonstrate that both this sponge symbiont and endosymbionts in deep-sea clams employ similar strategies of genome reduction, and suggest that microbes play different roles in biochemical cycles in the sponge body.
Cholesterol-Independent SREBP-1 Maturation Is Linked to ARF1 Inactivation.

Changes in distinct lipid ratios may converge on ARF1 to increase SBP-1/SREBP-1 activity, and it is found that limiting PC synthesis or LPIN1 knockdown in mammalian cells reduces the levels of active GTP-bound ARf1.
Marine biofilms constitute a bank of hidden microbial diversity and functional potential
This work analyzes 2.5 terabases of newly sequenced datasets and the Tara Oceans metagenomes to study biofilm-forming marine microbes, increasing the known microbial diversity in the oceans by more than 20% and revealing new biosynthetic gene clusters and CRISPR-Cas systems.
The icmF3 locus is involved in multiple adaptation- and virulence-related characteristics in Pseudomonas aeruginosa PAO1

The pleiotropic effects observed upon icmf3 deletion demonstrate that icmF3 plays critical roles in both pathogenesis and environmental adaptation in P. aeruginosa PAO1.
Corynebacterium glutamicum Methionine Sulfoxide Reductase A Uses both Mycoredoxin and Thioredoxin for Regeneration and Oxidative Stress Resistance

It is reported that a Corynebacterium glutamicum methionine sulfoxide reductase A (CgMsrA) that belongs to the 3-Cys family of MsrAs plays important roles in oxidative stress resistance.
