Trichomonas gallinae in Columbiform Birds from the Galapagos Islands
Doves examined on pigeon-free islands were not found infected and Trichomonas gallinae can be found also in endemic Galapagos doves in the vicinity of Puerto Ayora on Santa Cruz Island. Expand

  • 1 September 1962
A wide variety of bacteriophages were processed and stored under different conditions to compare methods for long-term preservation, and titers determined after processing indicated that, of the broth, glycerol, and freeze-dry methods, freeze-drying was most damaging to the phages tested, Glycerol less damaging, and the broth method least damaging. Use of a Mesh Live Trap for Small Mammals: Are Results from Sherman Live Traps Deceptive?
Two types of mesh live traps were better than Sherman traps for capturing rodents in high and low deserts, Mediterranean grassland and shrubland, and riparian woodland and scrub habitats, resulting in substantially different estimates of density, sex ratios, age structure, and movement. Expand

It can be seen that in general better growth occurred on the more complex carbohydrates; on the simpler carbohydrates growth was either not stimulated or was inhibited. Expand

Flagella of bacteria taken directly from 24- and 48-h blood agar plates can be stained by using a simple, reliable procedure.
Deoxyribonucleic Acid Reassociation Experiments with a Halophilic, Lactose-Fermenting Vibrio Isolated from Blood Cultures
Results of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) reasociation experiments showed that DNA fragments from six strains of the newly described vibrio, incubated at 60°C withDNA fragments from V. alginolyticus, V. cholerae, and V. parahaemolyticu resulted in DNA duplex formation showing a level of relatedness consistent with that of different species within a genus. Proceedings: Preservation of bacteriophages by freezing and freeze-drying.
Abstract Losses in titer determined before and after freezing and freeze-drying of bacteriophages were matched with the following known characters of the phages: particle morphology, size, chloroformExpand
Proposal to Conserve the Specific Epithet tarda over the Specific Epithet anguillimortiferum in the Name of the Organism Presently Known as Edwardsiella tarda: Request for an Opinion
It is proposed that the specific epithet tarda be conserved over thespecific epithet anguillimortiferum in the scientific name Edwardsiella tardA for stability in nomenclature and to avoid confusion in the literature. Expand
