Enhanced Beetle Luciferase for High-Resolution Bioluminescence Imaging
It is shown that ELuc produces a strong light signal in primary cells and tissues and that it enables the visualization of gene expression with high temporal resolution at the single-cell level and allows a BLI spatiotemporal resolution far greater than that provided by FLuc.

Glow patterns in the green region of the spectrum were predominant among forest dwelling fireflies, whereas flash patterns were more commonly observed among open-field dwellingFireflies, which may be adaptation to luminescent signal optimization in different photic environments or for different signal functions, such as sexual attraction, defense and illumination.

Twenty‐five Brazilian species of adult fireflies were found to emit light in vivo in the green‐yellow range of the spectrum, more frequently near the green region, in contrast with North‐American species, which predominantly emit yellow light.
