PCR-multiplexes for a genome-wide framework of simple sequence repeat marker loci in cultivated sunflower
The development of PCR-multiplexes for a nearly genome-wide framework of 78 SSR marker loci in cultivated sunflower is described herein, and the multiplexed SSR markers create a 'standard genotyping' set ideal for first-pass scans of the genome, as are often needed when screening bulked-segregant DNA samples or mapping phenotypic trait loci.
Evaluation of genome-wide selection efficiency in maize nested association mapping populations
The RR-BLUP method was the preferred method for estimating marker effects in GWS with prediction accuracies comparable to or greater than BayesA and BayesB, and the accuracy of prediction was relatively insensitive to marker density.
SSRs and INDELs mined from the sunflower EST database: abundance, polymorphisms, and cross-taxa utility
Several thousand additional SSRs were identified in the EST database and supply a wealth of templates for EST-SSR marker development in sunflower, describing the spectrum and frequency of SSRs identified and polymorphisms of the markers among the parents of several intraspecific and interspecific mapping populations.
Genetic Mapping of the Or5 Gene for Resistance to Orobanche Race E in Sunflower
The terminal and perhaps telomeric location of Or 5 on LG3 sheds light on difficulties, past and present, of identifying flanking DNA markers tightly linked to Or 5, a gene for resistance to Orobanche Race E.
Conserved simple sequence repeats for the Limnanthaceae (Brassicales)
The SSR markers supply a critical mass of high-throughput DNA markers for biological and agricultural research across the Limnanthaceae and open the way to the development of a genetic linkage map for meadowfoam.
Glucosinolates in the new oilseed crop meadowfoam: natural variation in Section Inflexae of Limnanthes, a new glucosinolate in L. floccosa, and QTL analysis in L. alba
This work identified and quantitated seed glucosinolates in four species of Section Inflexae of Limnanthes to assess variation for this trait in primary and secondary gene pools of cultivated meadowfoam.
Genes affecting novel seed constituents in Limnanthes alba Benth: transcriptome analysis of developing embryos and a new genetic map of meadowfoam
The seed oil of meadowfoam, a new crop in the Limnanthaceae family, is highly enriched in very long chain fatty acids that are desaturated at the Δ5 position. The unusual oil is desirable for
Selection for low erucic acid and genetic mapping of loci affecting the accumulation of very long-chain fatty acids in meadowfoam seed storage lipids.
The goals of the present study were to develop low erucic acid lines and identify loci affecting the accumulation of 22:1(13) and other very long-chain fatty acids (VLCFAs) in meadowfoam seed storage lipids.
High Throughput Allele Discovery and Incorporation in Elite Maize Germplasm (Syngenta Maize Allelic Diversity Platform
Genetic variation is a cornerstone of crop improvement. It serves as a tool to model crop responses to various biotic and abiotic factors. Simply stating, the germplasm with a wider base has better
