Morphological and biological properties of Salmonella typhimurium phage IRA were studied. The phage is a member of the Styloviridae family and exhibits a very wide spectrum of lytic activity. Molecular cloning of phage genes whose expression is lethal for the host cell has been performed and consequences of gene expression have been investigated. Expression… (More)
Lysosomal, microsomal and peroxisomal fractions have been isolated from the liver cells of rabbits infected with Staphylococcus aureus pathogenic strain 274 by differential centrifugation in the density gradient of sucrose. The study of the fractions of cell organelles by electron-cytochemical and biochemical methods in the dynamics of the development of… (More)
The study of the dynamics of streptococcal infection in fibroblast cell culture by electron microscopic analysis has revealed the intracellular development of bacteria. The degree of ultrastructural cytopathology of homologous bacteriophages in the model system have been studied.
The study of staphylococcal infection in chick embryo fibroblasts, carried out by electron-histochemical and morphometric methods, has revealed the presence of correlation between the degree of fibroblast destruction and the permeability of lysosomal membranes. The development of bacterial infection, depending on the presence of homologous bacteriophages in… (More)
A study was made of a possibility of using the "lead" and the "calcium" methods for the determination of localization of alkaline phosphatase in the bacterial cells. Cytochemical medium containing lead nitrate could not be used for determination of the true localization of the alkaline phosphatase in the microorganisms.
The study of the phosphatase activity of chick fibroblasts in the process of staphylococcal infection by the electron-histochemical method has revealed the presence of correlation between the degree of cytoplasmic destruction in fibroblasts and the level of acid phosphatase activity. Changes in the phosphatase activity of fibroblasts in the process of… (More)
In the process of the development of bacterial infections, the activity of marker enzymes in the membrane structure of liver cells has been studied in rabbits by biochemical and electron-histochemical methods. The results of these studies have shown that, simultaneously with the progressing course of cell pathology and inhibition of the function of… (More)
The dynamics of staphylococcus infection was studied in experimental infection of chick embryo fibroblasts with electron microscopy. It was shown that the antibiotic-resistant forms of staphylococci (strain 79) were capable of invading the fibroblast cytoplasm inducing its gradual vacuolization up to complete destruction.
The dynamics of experimental Shigella infection of chick embryo fibroblasts was studied with the use of electron microscopy. The antibiotic-resistant forms of Sh. sonnei 1,188 was found to be incapable of invasion into the fibroblast cytoplasm and intracellular proliferation. The destruction of fibroblasts observed during the infection was seemingly caused… (More)
