A dengue case was reported for the 1st time in a rural area of Kurnool District, Andhra Pradesh, India. Entomological and serological investigations were carried out to determine the prevalence of dengue vectors and dengue virus. Aedes aegypti was recorded for the 1st time in rural areas of Andhra Pradesh. Breeding of Ae. aegypti was observed only in(More)
This study investigated the oxidative stress induced after acute oral treatment with 500, 1000 and 2000 mg kg⁻¹ doses of Al₂O₃ -30 and -40 nm and bulk Al₂O₃ in Wistar rats. Both the nanomaterials induced significant oxidative stress in a dose-dependent manner in comparison to the bulk. There was no significant difference between the two nanomaterials.(More)
The bioassay-guided chemical examination of the rhizomes of R. emodi resulted in the isolation of two new oxanthrone esters, revandchinone-1, revandchinone-2, a new anthraquinone ether revandchinone-3 and a new oxanthrone ether, revandchinone-4. Their structures were established based on spectroscopic and degradative evidence. Occurrence of oxanthrone ether(More)
Prevention is the best resistance management strategy in integrated vector control programs. Combined use of insecticides of different classes that interact synergistically and show multi-site actions within the insect is recognized as a potential key strategy to be implemented even before the onset of resistance. The present study is aimed at harvesting(More)
Comparative protein modeling, active site analysis and binding site specificity for the homologous series of plasmepsins (PM's), present in food vacuole of Plasmodium falciparum, are carried out. Four loops (L1, L2, L3 and L4), which show maximum structural deviations irrespective of type of inhibitor, have been identified. Comparison of the crystal(More)
BACKGROUND & OBJECTIVES Climatic attributes have been associated with relative mosquito abundance and transmission of mosquito borne infections in many parts of the world, especially in warm and tropical climatic regions. The main objectives of this study were to assess the change in seasonal pattern of Japanese encephalitis (JE) vectors, their density, to(More)
Night mass blood surveys were carried out for parasitological evidence of Bancroftian filariasis in 45 rural areas belonging to 9 National Filaria Control Program (NFCP) zones of East Godavari and West Godavari districts of Andhra Pradesh, India during the period 1998 to 2001. Mf prevalence range between 2.9 to 10.2%, and mf intensities in 20 mm3 blood(More)
OBJECTIVE The aim of our study was to identify the association of FIGLA (factor in the germ line α) gene variants with premature ovarian failure (POF) in the Indian population. METHODS Two hundred nineteen women with idiopathic POF and 230 healthy controls were recruited for this study. All exons, intron-exon boundaries, and untranslated regions of the(More)
Iron oxide (Fe2O3) nanoparticles are widely used in different fields of nanotechnology. However, studies on its toxicological effects in humans and the environment are scarce. Therefore in this investigation 28 days repeated dose oral toxicity studies were conducted on Fe2O3-30 nanoparticles and its counterpart Fe2O3-Bulk with special reference to target(More)
