- C. Pullen, P. Schmitz, E. Leistner
- BiologyPlanta
- 1 November 2002
Wood from three different plants of the Celastraceae growing in their natural habitats in Brazil and South Africa was established as a source of endophytic bacteria using a medium selective for actinomycetes, and two isolates were identified as Streptomyces setonii and S. sampsonii.
Colossolactones, new triterpenoid metabolites from a Vietnamese mushroom Ganoderma colossum.
- P. Kleinwächter, N. Anh, U. Gräfe
- Medicine, BiologyJournal of Natural Products
- 19 January 2001
Seven new triterpenoid metabolites (colossolactones; 1-7) were isolated from a fruiting body of Ganoderma colossum, and their structures were determined by MS and NMR methods.
Nocardicyclins A and B: new anthracycline antibiotics produced by Nocardia pseudobrasiliensis.

- Biology, ChemistryJournal of antibiotics (Tokyo. )
- 25 October 1997
Nocardicyclins A (1) and B (2), new anthracycline antibiotics have been isolated from the mycelial cake of Nocardia pseudobrasiliensis IFM 0624 (JCM 9894) and are active against Gram-positive bacteria including Mycobacterium spp.
The occurrence of peptaibols and structurally related peptaibiotics in fungi and their mass spectrometric identification via diagnostic fragment ions
- T. Degenkolb, A. Berg, W. Gams, B. Schlegel, U. Gräfe
- ChemistryJournal of Peptide Science
- 1 November 2003
The paper compiles fragmentation data of pseudo‐molecular ions reported in the literature as a guide to the rational identification of recurrently isolated and new peptaibols and peptibiotics.
New macrolides and furan carboxylic acid derivative from the sponge-derived fungus Cladosporium herbarum.
- R. Jadulco, P. Proksch, V. Wray, Sudarsono, A. Berg, U. Gräfe
- ChemistryJournal of Natural Products
- 24 March 2001
Bioassay-guided fractionation of organic extracts of Cladosporium herbarum yielded two new macrolide metabolites that were isolated from the marine sponge Callyspongia aerizusa and the antimicrobially active furan carboxylic acids: Sumiki's acid and its new derivative, acetyl Sumiki’s acid.

Alnumycin a new naphthoquinone antibiotic produced by an endophytic Streptomyces sp.
The culture broth (5 liters) was separated by filtration followed by concentration under reduced pressure (1 l iter) and extraction with ethyl acetate (3×1 liter) and the bioactive fractions were determined.
New diketopiperazine alkaloids from Penicillium fellutanum.
- A. Kozlovsky, N. Vinokurova, V. Adanin, G. Burkhardt, H. Dahse, U. Gräfe
- ChemistryJournal of Natural Products
- 24 March 2000
Four new diketopiperazine alkaloids (1-4) were isolated from cultures of Penicillium fellutanum, and their structures were determined by MS and NMR measurements.
Aurantimycins, new depsipeptide antibiotics from Streptomyces aurantiacus IMET 43917. Production, isolation, structure elucidation, and biological activity.
- U. Gräfe, R. Schlegel, E. Paulus
- Chemistry, BiologyJournal of antibiotics (Tokyo. )
- 25 February 1995
Aurantimycins were isolated from the mycelium of Streptomyces aurantiacus JA 4570 as new representatives of the azinothricin group of hexadepsipeptide antibiotics and display strong activity against Gram-positive bacteria and cytotoxic effects against L-929 mouse fibroblast cells.
Differences in membrane pore formation by peptaibols
- P. Grigoriev, B. Schlegel, M. Kronen, A. Berg, A. Härtl, U. Gräfe
- Biology, ChemistryJournal of Peptide Science
- 1 November 2003
Highly membrane‐active structures such as alamethicin F‐30, chrysospermin C, texenomycin A and paracelsin A displayed antibiotic effects against the fungus and toxicity in mice and no or weak membrane activities corresponded with biological inactivity.
