Optimizing esthetics for implant restorations in the anterior maxilla: anatomic and surgical considerations.
The placement of dental implants in the anterior maxilla is a challenge for clinicians because of patients' exacting esthetic demands and difficult pre-existing anatomy. This article presents…

All 45 anterior maxillary single-tooth implants fulfilled strict success criteria for dental implants with regard to osseointegration, including the absence of peri-implant radiolucency, implant mobility, suppuration, and pain.
Long-term evaluation of non-submerged ITI implants. Part 1: 8-year life table analysis of a prospective multi-center study with 2359 implants.

It can be concluded that non-submerged ITI implants maintain success rates well above 90% in different clinical centers for observation periods up to 8 years indicating that the applied life table analysis is a reliable statistical method to evaluate the long-term prognosis of dental implants.

The present review first analyzes the various phases of the development of therapeutic strategies over the years for post-extraction implant placement in single tooth sites in the esthetic zone, and presents the current knowledge concerning the terminology with immediate, early and late implant placement, the risk factors for the developed esthetic complications, and the selection criteria for the various treatment options.

It was demonstrated that anterior maxillary single-tooth replacement, according to the concept of early implant placement, is a successful and predictable treatment modality, in general, and from an esthetic point of view, in particular.
Mechanics of the implant-abutment connection: an 8-degree taper compared to a butt joint connection.

- 1 July 2000
Three-dimensional, non-linear finite element models were created to compare the 2 connection principles under equal conditions and give insight into the mechanics involved in each type of connection and are compared to actual findings with the testing machine.
Early implant placement with simultaneous guided bone regeneration following single-tooth extraction in the esthetic zone: 12-month results of a prospective study with 20 consecutive patients.
- D. Buser, S. Halbritter, U. Belser
- MedicineThe Journal of Periodontology
- 2009
This prospective case series study evaluating the concept of early implant placement demonstrated successful tissue integration for all 20 implants, demonstrating ankylotic stability and healthy peri-implant soft tissues as documented by standard parameters.
Early loading of non-submerged titanium implants with a sandblasted and acid-etched surface. 5-year results of a prospective study in partially edentulous patients.

This prospective study using an early loading protocol with 6 weeks of healing demonstrated that titanium implants with the SLA surface can achieve and maintain successful tissue integration with high predictability for at least 5 years of follow-up in selected patients and sites.
A 10-year prospective study of ITI dental implants placed in the posterior region. I: Clinical and radiographic results.
